ReQuest Dance Crew & Parris GoebelREQUEST DANCE CREW- This all-female hip-hop dance crew had crowds mesmerized during the opening of the AMA’s where they performed alongside JLo. They “polyswagged” it out in Bieber’s viral dance videos. Find out from the ladies themselves why this is just the beginning for the ReQuest Dance Crew.

How does one become a part of your epic crew?

Auditions are held every year in January over a 3 day period.

Parris created ReQuest when she was 15. How has it evolved over the past ~8 years and where do you see it 8 years from now?

It started off as a crew of 5 girls and is now known as one of the best female crews on the planet. In 8 years from now it will still be name known for an all female crew as our younger girls will move up into RQ and keep it going.

What was your most memorable performance?

Winning the world champs in the varsity division in 2009 would be the most memorable as no-one knew who we were, we were an all girl crew and it was amazing to be crowned world champs.

What makes Parris special?

Her work ethic and her creativity.

How did you get the Justin Bieber gig and what was your reaction?

The work came about because they contacted Parris. It is always great to create something with dance at the forefront. Without a doubt we all felt very proud when it was released to the world.

What were the most challenging/rewarding aspects of filming?

Just long hours to get everything done in the time given us. Every video was awesome.

Which video was the most fun to shoot?

SORRY.

Can you share what a typical day in your life is like?

We would be in the studio at least 4 days a week and can do anything from 4 hours to 8 hours when we train.

You wore some pretty epic outfits; where did they come from?

Everyone just brought whatever they had at home and Parris brought two suitcases of gear and we had a couple of stylists bring along clothes.

Why do you think dance is so important to be showcased in mainstream media? What message are you trying to get across to viewers?

Having dance showcase is great because most times everything is just focused on the artist but Justin allowed dance to be prominent in all the video as he was only in 2 out of 13. The message we are trying to get across to the viewers is to really go on a journey with each video.

Why do you think Hip Hop can create change?

There was a lot of different styles used in the videos so its not so much hip hop but movement through dance.
